Trail Horse Clinic & Test
Southwestern PFHA is excited to sponsor a second Trail Horse Clinic and Test on October 6 & 7, 2018. The Trail Horse Test program, developed by PFHA, provides a way to demonstrate a horse’s ability to complete a series of specific trail riding tasks. The clinic covering the testing requirements will be conducted by Keith Andries, on Saturday, October 6. It begins at 9 am. The Trail Horse Test for Junior and Senior Levels is set for Sunday, October 7. Karl Cottrell serves as our THT Marshal. Keith Andries will judge the test. Although the Trail Horse Test is open to all breeds, registered Paso Finos will have their test levels recorded in the PFHA registry.
Secure your place by submitting your full, non-refundable (rain or shine) payment of $125 per horse & rider to SWPFHA / Ellen Perez, Treasurer / 14098 Fenley Rd / Conroe, TX 77302-7629 by September 30, 2018. Your payment includes the PFHA registry recording fees for successful completion of the Junior and Senior Levels. The auditor fee for the clinic (Saturday only) is $20. It, too, should be submitted in advance so that we can properly prepared for the expected number of attendees.
The Trail Horse Test will be conducted at Rose Hill Ranch / 1500 FM 3128 / Coldspring, TX 77331. Stalls are $25 with RV hook ups for $25/night. A negative Coggins is required. Contact Keith Andries at firstname.lastname@example.org or call (936)520-6025 to reserve stalls or rv hook ups. Hook ups and stall fees are separate from and in addition to the fees paid to SWPFHA for the Trail Horse Test.
SWPFHA will provide sandwiches and drinks to participants and auditors on both Saturday and Sunday.
The Trail Horse Test Overview is available online at https://www.pfha.org/index.php/programs/recreational-rider-programs-2/ and describes the objectives, levels and test elements with a description of what is expected with each task and at each level. Read it carefully. You may download and complete your THT entry and release forms prior to the clinic and test. Bring that completed paperwork with you or you can complete it before the clinic on Saturday. Paso Fino riders should bring a copy of your horse’s PFHA registration papers as well as your PFHA membership number. Both of these are required for the PFHA registry to properly process your test results.

There will be five stations along the trail with the envelopes with one card inside each envelope. Maps to the stations will be provided. Each rider will pick out an envelope from each station along the trail. When everyone gets back, each person will open their five envelopes revealing their cards. Best hand wins $200. (And, no, you don't have to run in a Poker Run.)
Disclaimer: Due to Texas Gambling Laws, No funds, fees, or money will be used for the prize for the actual game. Prize will be provided by SWPFHA.
