The Southwestern Paso Fino Horse Association (SWPFHA) was organized in October, 1985 for the purpose of Promoting the Paso Fino horse in the Southwestern portion of the United States, particularly in Texas, Portions of Louisiana and the adjacent states. The Southwestern Paso Fino Horse Association, SWPFHA, is the official regional affiliate of the national Paso Fino Horse Association. The SWPFHA represents some three hundred fifty voting members of the PFHA and the Southwestern region is the fifth largest of the affiliated regional organizations.

For more than twenty years the SWPFHA has sponsored nationally recognized Paso Fino horse shows, hosted trail rides, offered training clinics and breed demonstrations for Paso Fino enthusiasts in this region. Our members participate in drill team performances and parades across the region. Members meet regularly for fun and fellowship as well as getting together for competitions.

The Paso Fino horse reflects its Spanish heritage through its proud carriage, grace and elegance. Modern care and selective breeding have enhanced its beauty, refinement and well-proportioned conformation that convey strength and power without extreme muscling. With its lively but controlled spirit, natural gait and presence, and responsive attitude, the Paso Fino is indeed, a rare and desirable equine partner.
